Marketing Internships

Established in 1855, Southwestern Advantage is the oldest entrepreneurial program in the world for university students. Our program has given hundreds of thousands of participants the opportunity to graduate debt-free with transferrable personal and professional skills. Student Reps spend their summers being personally coached on how to build their own small businesses in a new part of the country, visiting with families, showing educational apps, websites, and books. After their first summer, students that demonstrate leadership qualities are given the opportunity to gain the experience of leading teams and organizations. Often, Student Reps use their undergrad experience with Southwestern Advantage to move into professional sales management within the company after graduation, while many others are offered career positions within one of our 25 companies in the Southwestern Family of Companies that serve a variety of industries (finance, consulting, fundraising, real estate, travel and more). Good Goes Viral, a new open innovation platform against coronavirus, is looking for volunteers to help us grow. Our objective is to spread the best ideas and rapidly create best practices for other initiatives to adopt and replicate. The Communications/PR Intern will assist Communications & Marketing department with any and all public relations and daily media relations. The Communications/PR Intern plays a vital role in all departmental activities, including assisting with day-to-day media relations, assisting with match previews, writing recaps and press releases, and other team media functions that occur. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to supply creative solutions on a regular basis to a variety of requested projects while remaining organized and on task. The Communications/PR Internship is unpaid and available for college credit only. This internship is remote-only for the moment. Hours are flexible. Responsibilities: - Assist in day-to-day media relations, including pitching stories ideas for local and national media outlets - Create written content on a regular basis, including feature stories, previews and recaps. - Maintain and archive all media coverage of the Club on a weekly basis. - Other duties and projects as assigned

- Background in Photography, Fashion, or related field - Proficient in Adobe Light room, Photoshop, Word, Excel; Knowledge of Capture One/lighting techniques a plus but not required - Understanding and strong interest in fashion, social media, and photography - Self-starter, motivated, ability to take initiative - Background in videography or graphic design is a bonus - Help with the event logistics and coordination - Shooting at the event and behind the scenes. - Any Ad Hoc duties - Organize and help maintain all internal documents up to date

The Communications Internship is a part-time (30 hours/week) summer internship for students with an interest in Climate Communications, Online Engagement, and Writing/Media. Students will engage in media research, online communications, and article writing for CSCS’ website. The Communications Internship is based in Harrisonburg, VA, and can be done remotely, and includes an hourly wage for 30 hours per week.
