Research & Data Collection Intern
Common Good //
Long Island, NY (Remote)

Common Good is a nonpartisan reform coalition that believes individual responsibility, not mindless bureaucracy, must be the organizing principle of government. We present practical proposals to restore the ability of officials and citizens alike to use common sense in daily decisions, and then be held accountable. We will soon launch a Campaign for Common Sense to inject these ideas into the 2020 election. We are looking for motivated interns to assist with a research project cataloging the failures of American bureaucracy. Interns will collect data, research materials, and first hand accounts of the paralyzing effect of red tape and paperwork burdens on teachers, healthcare workers, and other front-line public officials, and produce memoranda and social media content with their findings. Interns may also be asked to assist with larger-scale research projects. Duration: Approximately 20+ hours a week for ten weeks, starting in June Compensation: $15/hour Location: Remote/virtual To apply, please send a cover letter and resume to Matt Brown at mbrown@commongood.org. Research Analyst intern

New York, NY (Remote)

At the United Nations, we work with huge civil society coalitions on issues relating to peace, disarmament, women's issues, and civil society empowerment. The Research Analyst helps develop political materials that are used for advocacy and outreach purposes within the United Nations and in the community to achieve the current goals of our Civil Society Engagement from Home Project. * Research Analysts then work as part of a team to help present those materials at events in the UN and in the community and then help out with social media coverage. Due to the ongoing quarantine, we have switched to remote work as an office. The intern must also have research, analytical, and writing skills, and be able to work as part of a team. - The research analyst must also have people skills for meeting with new people, civil society representatives, and diplomats at the United Nations. - This internship requires college work in majors from social and political sciences with ideally past relevant volunteer and interning experience in a non-profit.
